Manganese Project
The Kibutuka Manganese Project, located in the Liwale District of the Lindi Region, Tanzania, is developed under eight Primary Mining Licenses (PMLs) covering a total of 75.68 hectares. The project includes comprehensive mine planning, resource estimation, and a progressive mine closure plan to ensure responsible and sustainable mining operations.
Total Area: 75.68 hectares
Number of Licenses: 8 PMLs
Commodity: Manganese (MnO₂ avg. 32.5%)
Mining Method: Open-cast / Strip Mining
Life of Mine (LoM): 3–4 years
Total ROM Resource: 240,126 MT
Stripping Ratio: 4.31
Project Status: Approved mine plan, ready for production
Geology & Mineralization
The project area forms part of the Neoproterozoic Mozambique Belt, containing weathered sandstone, quartzite veins, marls, and ferruginous lateritic caps. Manganese occurs mainly as lateritic enrichment zones and pockets formed through intense tropical weathering. The ore is shallow, easily minable, and structurally controlled.
Resource & Production Plan
Total ROM Resource: 240,126 MT
Average MnO₂ Grade: 32.5%
Planned Annual Production: 60,000 – 100,000 MT
Mine Life: 3–4 years
Method: Open-cast, shallow excavation without drilling/blasting
Equipment: 1 excavator, 1 backhoe, 2 tippers

The Kibutuka Manganese Project shows strong potential for a successful small-scale operation, supported by consistent lateritic manganese deposits and an estimated 240,126 MT of mineable ore. With simple open-pit mining, a 3–4 year production life, and efficient operational planning, the project remains both cost-effective and technically feasible. Environmental measures, progressive rehabilitation, and a solid closure plan ensure responsible development. Financial indicators further confirm economic viability, positioning the project for sustainable and compliant execution
